Botanical Extracts

Botanical extracts (tinctures) are a popular method of extracting and concentrating the medicinal properties of a plant. They are made at the height of the plant's potency; the roots generally dug in the spring or fall, flowers and leaves harvested at peak of bloom. They have many advantages; they are relatively simple to make and use, a little goes a long way, and they are potent and last a long time. The majority of our extracts use locally grown, organically cultivated or wildcrafted plants from western Massachusetts and other areas of New England such as southern Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Cape Cod. They are carefully prepared after harvest in grain alcohol (50%). (For those preferring to avoid alcohol, simply mix in very hot water and let sit approximately 20 minutes before using.)
