Frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about Earthworm Herbals' Skin Care Products: Answers to most commonly asked questions we receive from our customers.

My infant or child has been diagnosed with eczema. Are your products safe for them?

All of our products are made with gentle, non-toxic ingredients. They are safe for children and infants but should still be used externally only, and we recommend that our internal tea and extract be reserved for adults.

How long will it take to see results using your products?

Some people see results after one or two applications. Depending on what you are currently using and how severe your problem is, the ingredients in our products are so moisturizing that you may see immediate results. Other times, however you will need to follow a course of treatment using the cream and salve several times during the day, after bathing and also make alterations to your diet and lifestyle. We don't offer the fastest relief, necessarily, however we do offer long term relief which is simply not the case with topical steroids and many other products which can further damage skin over time. Results vary widely from person to person. This is because there are so many contributing factors with eczema, and it is often difficult to know what is playing the most active role in your situation. Often is may be a food you are allergic to but don't know it; irritating clothing or harsh laundry detergents. It is well known that stress plays a prominent role in eczema and most skin conditions in general, particularly in flare-ups. Since we cannot diagnose your problem on the phone or even be sure it's eczema, even if that's what your dermatologist has determined, we simply cannot know how severe of a problem you are dealing with.

What if I am already using a prescription cream or steroid/cortisone product?

We recommend you are OFF of other products for at least a week before trying our products (or any other natural treatment) The reason for this is that often times, if you're using a steroid cream or ointment, your skin becomes used to it. While it actually causes long-term damage to the skin, in the short run it may relieve itching better than natural products because of the strong chemicals. If you suddenly switch to another product line, your body experiences a kind of rebound effect. While it may seem that you are reacting to the new treatment, it is far more likely that you are reacting to stopping the cortisone. Give it awhile in between products, even if it means using plain olive oil or chickweed oil in the meanwhile to give your skin a chance to adjust.

I don't want to purchase the whole collection, but I'll try one or two products. What do you recommend?

Again, this depends on how severe your problem is. If you want excellent daily and nightly coverage, we recommend a jar of the CREAM for use during the day (more absorbable) and the SALVE for overnight use (thicker) Replacing your daily soap may be very helpful, as most soaps (no matter how gentle they claim to be) generally contain some fragrance or chemical which could be irritating. Most contain some form of the detergent, often in the form of sodium laurel sulfate from some form of detergent. Our LIQUID SOAP is superior to anything else for eczema today and is completely hand-made with herbs specific for treating dry skin and/or fungus. It is completely free of added scents, chemicals and detergents and does not contain drying coconut oil. Our LOTION is aimed at larger areas of the body which are affected; it is a thinner version of our cream. Our HYDRATING OIL is a blend of healing oils and herbs that can be used in the bath for excellent moisturizing or smoothed on the skin after bathing. Lastly, our teas and extracts are supplemental treatment, helping detoxify and aid the skin in healing. They are not a substitute for treating the problem topically, but are a good addition to an overall treatment plan both internally and externally for a more complete approach to healing. So, in short, we would recommend you start with a jar of salve or cream and try the herbal soap, and chances are you will see results from that.
